Hotel and Resort Manager (Full Time)

About the role

Nelse Lodge is seeking an experienced Hotel and Resort Manager to lead day‑to‑day operations of its ski‑in ski‑out lodge in Falls Creek. This hands‑on leadership position involves overseeing accommodation, food & beverage, gym and spa facilities while ensuring a premium guest experience in a unique alpine environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead reservations, front desk, housekeeping and guest services to deliver seamless stays for lodge, apartment and group guests.
• Plan and supervise the bar and restaurant, including events, functions and corporate retreat activities.
• Coordinate with coaches and organisers to deliver training camps, team bookings and retreats.
• Oversee security, grounds, property and facility maintenance, including gym, sauna and outdoor plunge pools.
• Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, occupational health and safety regulations and other relevant legislation.
• Monitor guest feedback, act on improvement opportunities and manage accounting, budgeting and purchasing activities.
• Recruit, train, roster and mentor staff across seasonal peaks.
• Provide guests with local tourism information and arrange tours and transport as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in hotel, resort or lodge management.
• Qualification in hotel management, hospitality, business or tourism is desirable, or equivalent experience.
• Current RSA certification and understanding of liquor licensing obligations.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple departments such as accommodation, food & beverage and facilities.
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, purchasing and cost control.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with a guest‑focused approach.
• Proficiency with property management and room booking systems, plus Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Problem‑solving ability and capacity to work independently in a remote alpine environment.
• Knowledge of OHS compliance and safe workplace practices.
• Willingness to relocate to Falls Creek.
