Hospitality Trainee - Certificate III in Hospitality

About the role

Westvic Staffing Solutions, in partnership with WDHS Green Bean Café, is offering a 12-month full-time hospitality traineeship. The trainee completes a Certificate III in Hospitality while learning hands-on skills in café and food service, including customer service, barista training, basic food preparation and cooking, sandwich making, food hygiene and safety and merchandising food and beverages. The host employer is the WDHS Green Bean Café in Hamilton, Victoria.

Key responsibilities

• Set tables with clean linen, cutlery, crockery and glasses; welcome and seat customers and hand out menus
• Tell guests about the menu and drinks, and in some cases promote local produce and attractions
• Take orders, serve food and drinks, make up bills and handle money or credit cards
• Prepare and serve a variety of coffees, mix cocktails and draw beer from the tap
• Clear tables, clean tables and seating areas, wipe down surfaces and polish glasses
• Operate cash registers, arrange bottles and glasses on shelves and assist in stock control
• Observe workplace hygiene, health and safety and security procedures

Required profile

• Willingness to learn and interest in food and its presentation
• Commitment to complete a Certificate III in Hospitality
• Friendly, helpful, patient and polite, with very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Well presented, time efficient and able to use own initiative
• Current National Police Check; a Working with Childrens Check and/or NDIS Worker Screening Check may be required depending on the position
• Compliance with WDHS immunisation and vaccination requirements

What we offer

• 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Pay at the National Training Award rate, with 12% superannuation
• Training through SW Tafe (Certificate III in Hospitality)
