Home Economics Assistant

About the role
The Home Economics Assistant supports the Home Economics teacher in delivering curriculum programmes at Wanneroo Secondary College. Working on‑site, the assistant helps operate classroom technology, sewing equipment and kitchen appliances while ensuring a safe, clean learning environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the teacher with the operation of computers, sewing machines and kitchen appliances during lessons.
- Prepare and maintain learning environments, including setting up equipment, materials and resources for classes, displays and demonstrations.
- Clean and store items safely after activities and ensure all equipment is in good working order.
- Inspect equipment regularly and report any discrepancies to the Home Economics teacher.
Required profile
- Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or visa holder with appropriate work rights.
- Willingness to obtain a Working With Children Check and a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check before starting.
- Ability to follow teacher directions and work collaboratively with students and staff.
