Heavy Vehicle Operator (Roads)

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Vehicle Operator to support maintenance and construction activities across council roads, drainage networks and related infrastructure. The role involves operating truck‑and‑dog combinations, water trucks and other heavy vehicles while ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of roads and drainage maintenance operations.
• Safely operate truck‑and‑dog, water truck and other heavy vehicles.
• Complete vehicle inspections and keep equipment serviceable.
• Contribute to a strong safety culture through safe work practices and hazard reporting.

Required profile

• Current HR Class Driver’s licence (HC Class licence advantageous).
• Ability to work effectively within a team to meet operational targets.
• Safety‑first approach aligned with council values of safety, wellbeing, communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency and leadership.

Required skills

• Operation of truck‑and‑dog combinations.
• Operation of water trucks and other heavy vehicles.
