Heavy Diesel Mechanic - Fleet & Plant Maintenance

About the role

An experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic is sought for a busy workshop in Seaford, supporting the maintenance and reliability of a diverse fleet of plant, equipment and vehicles. The role is central to keeping operations running efficiently through preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs, and involves hands-on maintenance of fleet vehicles, plant and equipment to the highest safety and operational standards. The contract runs until 11 December 2026 at $54 per hour plus superannuation.

Key responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy plant, equipment and vehicles
• Diagnosing faults across diesel, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Keeping all assets safe, roadworthy and operational
• Ordering and fitting replacement parts as required
• Maintaining accurate servicing and repair records
• Assisting with workshop housekeeping and safety requirements
• Supporting apprentices and work experience participants where required
• Contributing to continuous improvement within workshop operations

Required profile

• Trade Certificate in Heavy Stream Diesel Mechanics
• Current Victorian driver licence and current Medium Rigid (MR) licence
• Experience maintaining plant and fleet vehicles
• Ability to manage work effectively and meet servicing deadlines
• Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship

Required skills

• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience with diesel, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Oxy-acetylene brazing and MIG welding

Desirable: Heavy Rigid (HR) licence, forklift licence and previous fleet workshop or plant maintenance experience. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
