Head of Strategy

About the role

The Head of Strategy will lead the development and execution of a clear, credible, and prioritized strategy for a leading energy transition organisation in Australia. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure the strategy is decision‑ready for the Board and SteerCo while driving internal alignment and external impact.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and maintain strategic priorities, ensuring they are evidence‑based and aligned across Impact Teams.
• Prepare and present strategy recommendations to the Board, SteerCo and senior leadership, securing consensus and buy‑in.
• Oversee the annual Board Strategy Workshop and collaborate with the CSO, CEO, CIO and Board members.
• Partner with Impact Leads to translate strategic plans into actionable initiatives.
• Lead, develop and coach the Strategy team, managing talent attraction, succession planning and capability uplift.
• Continuously rebalance strategic work, adjusting effort based on impact and delivery realities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior strategy roles, preferably within the energy, sustainability or related sectors.
• Strong ability to influence senior executives, board members and cross‑functional teams.
• Exceptional strategic judgement, prioritisation and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Demonstrated track record of building high‑performing teams and fostering a positive culture.
