Head of Production and Festival Delivery

About the role

The Biennale of Sydney is seeking a senior leader to head its Production department. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Artistic Director, the Head of Production and Festival Delivery will oversee the planning, execution and delivery of the Biennale’s artistic programme across multiple venues and public sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for exhibition production, installation, logistics and event operations.
• Manage complex, multi‑site projects safely, on time and within budget.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting for all production activities.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, contractors and suppliers, fostering collaboration and high performance.
• Build and maintain relationships with artists, presenting partners, venues and external suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with work health and safety regulations across all sites.

Required profile

• Significant senior experience in large‑scale productions, major events or fine‑art exhibition delivery.
• Proven track record of leading and empowering multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects safely, on schedule and on budget.
• Strong financial management capability, including budgeting and reporting.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
