Head of Financial Control

About the role

The Head of Financial Control will own the integrity of ANZ financial numbers for a multinational group. Reporting to the Finance Director in Sydney, you will lead month‑end close, reporting, audit and compliance across the ANZ region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end close processes and manage full financial operations including P&L, balance sheet, payroll and intercompany.
• Oversee group consolidation in line with AASB/IFRS standards.
• Ensure compliance with ASIC and ATO requirements.
• Manage internal and external audits end‑to‑end.
• Develop and lead a small accounting team.
• Drive process improvements and support system transformation initiatives, including ERP implementation.
• Collaborate with regional and global finance stakeholders.

Required profile

• CPA or CA qualification with at least 10 years post‑qualification experience in financial control.
• Strong knowledge of ANZ regulatory and reporting environments.
• Proven track record managing audits and financial compliance in a multinational or matrix organisation.
• Experience leading small teams and working to tight deadlines.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive and able to remain calm under pressure.
