Head of Financial Control

About the role

Our client is undertaking a major finance transformation and seeks a Head of Financial Control to lead the function. You will work closely with senior leadership to build a disciplined, high‑performing finance environment that supports future growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the financial control function, ensuring accurate, timely reporting across the organisation.
• Drive a disciplined month‑end close process, including balance‑sheet reconciliations and accounting oversight.
• Oversee statutory reporting, audit management, accounting policies and compliance with governance standards.
• Manage and develop AP, AR and shared‑services finance teams, establishing clear accountability and performance standards.
• Champion process improvement, standardisation and automation to enhance efficiency and scalability.
• Own finance data integrity and partner with stakeholders to strengthen systems and reporting accuracy.
• Collaborate with the CFO to implement a scalable finance operating model.
• Build strong relationships with FP&A, operational leaders and executive stakeholders.
• Develop and mentor a high‑performing financial control team, fostering a strong control culture.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified with senior financial control experience in a complex environment.
• Strong technical accounting, statutory reporting, audit and governance expertise.
• Proven track record of leading finance transformation, process improvement and shared‑services initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to build disciplined control environments and improve month‑end close processes.
• Leadership experience developing high‑performing finance teams.
• Commercially minded with a balance of governance and business partnership.
• Resilient, hands‑on and comfortable driving change.
