About the role

The Queensland Department of Education is seeking an experienced educator to lead the English and Humanities department at Coorparoo Secondary College. This senior position will shape engaging, inclusive learning experiences for junior and senior students and support a high‑performing school culture.

Key responsibilities

• Provide instructional leadership across English, Literature, Geography, History and related humanities subjects.
• Improve student engagement and achievement through evidence‑based pedagogical practices.
• Build teacher capability by mentoring staff and fostering collaborative professional learning.
• Implement strong quality‑assurance processes to ensure consistency and excellence across programmes.
• Design and oversee student‑centred assessment practices.
• Analyse data to inform teaching, learning and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven success in raising engagement and outcomes in English and Humanities.
• Demonstrated instructional leadership and ability to develop teacher expertise.
• Experience leading high‑impact practices such as explicit instruction, effective feedback and collaborative learning.
• Strong quality‑assurance and data‑literacy skills.
• Ability to design and implement student‑centred assessment frameworks.
