About the role
The Guidance Officer provides professional guidance and counselling services to support the academic, social and emotional development of students at Robina State High School. This role focuses on mild to moderate mental health difficulties and works within the school’s wellbeing framework.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, support and plan therapeutic interventions for students experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges.
- Provide advice and counselling on educational, behavioural, vocational, personal, social, family and mental health issues.
- Develop and implement safety plans for students who are self‑harming or at risk of suicide.
- Promote mental health awareness, prevention and capability building within the school community and leadership teams.
- Collect and record pre‑ and post‑intervention data on a tracking tool for regional and state‑wide reporting.
Required profile
- Relevant qualifications in counselling, psychology or a related field.
- Registration or certification as required by the Queensland Department of Education.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting is desirable.
