Grid Connection Engineer – Renewable Energy Storage

About the role

Delta Electronics is expanding its integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) business across Australia and Oceania. The Grid Connection Engineer will lead technical activities that ensure successful grid connection, regulatory compliance, and commissioning of utility‑scale and large commercial & industrial storage projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead grid connection and compliance activities for BESS projects in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and, where required, the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM).
• Manage Generator Performance Standard (GPS) development and negotiations with AEMO, network service providers and consultants.
• Prepare and submit grid connection packages, including R1/R2 modelling and compliance documentation.
• Review and coordinate power system studies (PSCAD, PSS®E) performed by external consultants.
• Support performance assessment, testing, and commissioning of inverter‑based resources.
• Monitor changes to the National Electricity Rules, AEMO guidelines and network technical standards.
• Collaborate on system integration of PCS, EMS, PPC, transformers, protection systems and balance‑of‑plant components.

Required profile

• Strong background in power systems engineering and grid modelling.
• Experience with utility‑scale BESS or inverter‑based resources.
• Ability to engage with regulators, network service providers and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Proven track record of delivering compliant grid connection solutions.
