Graduate Financial Analyst - Corporate Finance (M&A)

About the role

Houlihan Lokey's Corporate Finance business in Sydney offers a Graduate Financial Analyst position within its M&A advisory practice. You will work alongside experienced investment bankers on corporate finance and M&A assignments for clients across industries, mainly sell-side M&A transactions (Sponsor, Public and Private). The firm is currently only hiring for a January 2027 start date.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, analyse and help explain historical and projected financial information
• Create financial models
• Coordinate and perform business due diligence
• Prepare confidential information memoranda, management presentations, marketing pitches and other presentations
• Research sectors, companies and potential buyers
• Value companies and businesses
• Build relationships and maintain direct contact with clients, prospective clients and professional advisors
• Assist in planning engagements

Required profile

• Strong academic track record with 75+ WAM (or equivalent Distinction average) from a highly regarded university, completing the degree in 2026 / early 2027 and able to start full-time in early 2027
• Preferably studying Accounting, Economics, Finance, Commerce or a related quantitative discipline
• Minimum 1 year of M&A experience
• Understanding of valuation theory, methodologies and applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English, strong interpersonal skills and an independent, solutions-focused mindset

• Strong quantitative, financial and analytical skills with attention to accuracy and detail
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
