General Practitioner – Kimberley Remote Practice

About the role

KAMS is recruiting several experienced General Practitioners in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, reporting to the Senior Medical Officer. The roles focus on high-quality primary healthcare, continuity of care and culturally safe service delivery, within a structured multidisciplinary team supported by clinical governance. Two distinct positions are offered: Bidyadanga and the Kutjungka region (FIFO).

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary healthcare aligned with best-practice standards.
• Manage acute presentations and stabilise emergencies in remote settings.
• Support chronic disease management, recalls and preventative health initiatives.
• Work with Aboriginal Health Practitioners and Workers and Remote Area Nurses.
• Contribute to audit processes, incident management and governance oversight.
• Strengthen continuity of care through consistent follow-up and relationship-based practice.

Required profile

• Current or eligible medical registration in Western Australia.
• Demonstrated experience in rural and remote general practice; the roles are not suited to clinicians new to remote practice.
• Highly valued: experience in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, audits, recalls and governance, and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Resilience, adaptability and commitment to long-term patient relationships.

What we offer

• Base salary around $307,000 depending on role, plus superannuation.
