General Operator – Road Maintenance (Maffra Depot)

About the role

Wellington Shire Council is seeking a Road Management and Operations General Operator for its Maffra Depot on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Team Leader, the role provides general support services to the road crew for the improvement and maintenance of the Council's road network across Wellington Shire. The pay is $69,306.64 - $70,687.76 per year (including industry and maintenance allowance), plus 12% superannuation and a 9-day fortnight.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general support services to the road crew for maintaining the Council's road network.
• Learn how to carry out maintenance of roads, roadsides and drains.
• Learn how to operate relevant plant and equipment.
• Complete work efficiently while observing Occupational Health & Safety practices.

Required profile

• Willingness to learn how to operate tractors, trucks, loaders, plant and other road maintenance equipment.
• Punctual, hard-working and able to work under minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the local community.
• Fit for physically demanding, labour-intensive work.
• Strong work ethic, can-do attitude and good communication skills.
