About the role
The Gardens and Grounds Instructor is responsible for maintaining the gardens, grounds and turf at Pardelup Prison Farm, producing horticultural products that support prison operations. The role also delivers on‑the‑job instruction, accredited training and supervision to prisoners working in horticulture.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, implement and oversee daily garden and grounds maintenance activities.
- Produce horticultural outputs (e.g., vegetables, plants) for use within the prison.
- Provide training, mentorship and accredited certification to inmate workers.
- Supervise and coordinate any additional staff assigned to the horticulture area.
- Maintain records, manage inventory and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
Required profile
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in garden or grounds maintenance, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
- Ability to deliver training and supervise diverse participants.
Required skills
- Horticulture knowledge and practical garden maintenance techniques.
- Computer skills for record‑keeping and reporting.
