Front Door Controller

About the role

You will join the Front Office team of approximately 60 colleagues at The Langham, Melbourne, overseeing the hotel entrance and supporting guests throughout their stay. This position offers a pathway to develop a career in hospitality for a motivated and dedicated individual.

Key responsibilities

• Assist guests entering and departing the hotel, handling luggage, directions, queries and local recommendations.
• Receive, monitor and manage requests from all hotel areas, prioritising tasks and delegating duties to the Bell team.
• Coordinate group arrivals and departures, directing staff accordingly.
• Keep the Bell team informed of relevant hotel information, including F&B promotions, group and VIP arrivals.
• Lead regular briefings and meetings, and ensure consistent training through a core training team and manual.
• Liaise with couriers, manage parcels and work with security to track items arriving via the bell desk.
• Collaborate with the security department to maintain safety at the hotel entrance and monitor the porte cochère.

Required profile

• Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent organisational, time‑management, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts (morning, afternoon, night) across a 7‑day roster.
• Valid full manual Australian driver’s licence (probationary licences not accepted) or an equivalent international manual licence.
• Capability to perform manual handling tasks as part of an active work environment.
