Fixed Plant Operator

About the role

Nitro Sibir Australia is looking for a Fixed Plant Operator to monitor, control and manage the production materials, equipment and processes in its manufacturing plants at the Kalgoorlie Explosives Reserve in Western Australia. The position reports to the Fixed Plant Team Leader and sits within the Fixed Plant function.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out pre-start inspections on all equipment and keep records of the checks
• Prepare batches and mix materials, including all quality and control aspects of the process
• Control equipment running continuous and batch processes, and control the preparation, measuring and feeding of raw materials and processing agents
• Set operating controls on equipment, check for malfunctions and arrange maintenance
• Analyse samples and readings and record test data; keep records of production, quantities transferred and blending and pumping operations
• Conduct stocktakes and monthly site inspections, and advise management on deviations from plan
• Follow company processes such as the ANE manufacturing process, QA checks (crystallisation point, viscosity, pH, ANFO fuel content) and document and records control
• Report nonconformances, take part in investigations, Take 5 and JSA development, and assist in training new employees

Required profile

• Experience in explosive and security risk substance manufacturing plants
• Proven ability to manage problems quickly and efficiently, and to work under pressure
• Good communication skills and knowledge of safety systems
• Preferred: Certificate IV in Chemistry, shot firing licence, heavy rigid vehicle licence, dangerous goods driver's licence and dangerous goods security card (SRS clearance)
