Firefighter: Paramedic & EMT

About the role

The City of Hobart is seeking qualified Firefighter/Paramedic and Firefighter/EMT personnel to provide fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services. Candidates will deliver Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Basic Life Support (BLS) care as required and support fire operations during emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to fire and emergency medical calls, providing both firefighting and medical support.
• Administer ALS care (intubation, medication administration, advanced monitoring) or BLS care (CPR, basic airway management, splinting) on medical calls.
• Participate in fire suppression, search and rescue, ventilation, vehicle extrication, HAZMAT response, and technical rescue operations.
• Operate and maintain department apparatus, ensuring readiness for emergency response.
• Complete patient care documentation and reports.
• Maintain physical fitness and attend ongoing fire and EMS training.

Required profile

• Maintain certifications as Firefighter I & II and Paramedic (or EMT with paramedic certification within 2 years).
• Demonstrate leadership, situational awareness, and adherence to incident command.
• Maintain excellent physical and mental fitness.
• Comply with department policies, safety protocols, and equipment readiness standards.
