Fire Equipment Maintenance Traineeship

About the role

Golden West Apprenticeships is offering a full-time, 12-month Fire Equipment Maintenance Traineeship in Roma. It combines on-the-job training with an employer and a nationally recognised course delivered by a registered training organisation. The trainee learns to install, test and maintain fire protection equipment and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test and maintain fire protection equipment such as extinguishers, hoses, reels, hydrants, fire blankets, exit lighting, fire and smoke doors, gaseous fire suppression systems, passive fire and smoke containment systems and foam generating equipment.
• Protect people and property from fire damage using fire prevention techniques.
• Read and understand technical documents and keep up to date with fire protection measures.
• Analyse existing protection measures and design updated fire protection systems.
• Test chemicals' fire-suppressing ability or research existing fire prevention techniques.
• Analyse fire risks and develop appropriate safeguards.

• Ability to build good working relationships with the employer and the Golden West Apprenticeships team.
• Ability to complete timesheets correctly and on time.
• Desirable: work experience in the chosen industry.

Training requirements

• Abide by the terms of the Training Contract and complete the Golden West Apprenticeships inductions.
• Complete the Training Plan within the allocated timeframe, passing theory-based assessments and demonstrating skills through competency-based assessments.
• Comply with registration requirements, including the Further Education and Training Act and the Work Health and Safety Act.
