Financial Controller

About the role

An established Australian business, operating across multiple locations and entering a new phase of growth, is looking for a Financial Controller in South-West Brisbane. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the role leads the finance function, covering financial reporting, governance, compliance and day-to-day operations. It is a broad, hands-on leadership position requiring strong technical accounting expertise, sound commercial judgement and the ability to drive change.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team and oversee financial operations and reporting across multiple entities
• Manage month-end close, statutory and management reporting, balance sheet integrity, audit and compliance
• Maintain strong financial controls and governance, ensuring accurate reporting and adherence to accounting standards
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and capital management, giving financial insight to senior stakeholders
• Drive change and continuous improvement across financial systems, reporting and processes

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification with proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar
• Demonstrated experience leading finance teams and overseeing financial operations
• Track record of driving change, improving processes and strengthening financial systems and reporting
• Sound commercial acumen, strong communication skills and confidence engaging senior stakeholders
• Experience in asset-intensive, multi-site environments such as construction, mining services, equipment hire, transport or industrial services is highly regarded

Required skills

• Strong technical accounting expertise, including statutory reporting, financial controls and multi-entity accounting
• Hands-on approach to detail and process improvement
