Financial Controller

About the role

We are looking for a high‑calibre Financial Controller to join the finance team of a global technology group that operates a leading freelancing marketplace and related fintech platforms. Reporting to the CFO, you will own the integrity of group financial reporting, internal controls and statutory compliance across multiple jurisdictions and currencies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end, half‑year and year‑end closing, ensuring accurate consolidation of multi‑currency subsidiaries.
• Prepare statutory financial statements in line with IFRS/AASB and manage all ASX and regulatory filings.
• Own the global audit process, act as primary contact for external auditors and maintain a robust internal control environment.
• Oversee global tax compliance, including GST/VAT, corporate income tax and R&D tax incentive claims.
• Drive operational excellence by refining and automating financial systems, workflows and reporting tools.
• Manage cash flow, inter‑company settlements and foreign‑exchange risk in a high‑volume transactional environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a CA or CPA qualification.
• 8+ years of progressive finance experience, preferably starting in a Big 4 firm and followed by senior reporting or controllership roles in an ASX‑listed or high‑growth tech company.
• Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage and develop a global finance team.
• Detail‑oriented mindset and ability to thrive under pressure.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of IFRS and AASB standards.
• Expertise in multi‑currency consolidation and complex international accounting treatments.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial automation tools.
• Proficiency in tax compliance (GST/VAT, corporate tax, R&D incentives).
• Cash management, treasury and FX risk management capabilities.
