Financial Controller

About the role

Nexl is seeking a hands‑on Financial Controller to own and build its finance function. Reporting to the VP of Strategy & Operations, you will be the most senior finance leader in the company, with direct exposure to the Board and responsibility for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance and tax readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve the finance function alongside the VP of Strategy & Operations.
• Produce timely and accurate multi‑entity financial statements and management reports.
• Manage bank reconciliations, transaction processing and overall financial management.
• Ensure revenue and cost recognition complies with the appropriate accounting standards.
• Establish and maintain robust internal financial controls and risk‑management safeguards.
• Collaborate with external bookkeepers to oversee tax compliance and audit readiness.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification with 5+ years of experience, preferably in high‑growth B2B SaaS environments.
• Proven track record as a Financial Controller scaling finance functions from Series A onward.
• Executive presence with strong communication skills for Board and leadership interactions.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented and able to roll up sleeves to dive deep into processes.
• Demonstrated analytical and creative problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of revenue recognition and cost recognition under relevant accounting standards.
• Experience with subscription billing processes, systems and internal controls frameworks.
• Ability to develop and enforce internal financial controls and risk‑management practices.
