Financial Controller

About the role

OpenSolar is looking for an experienced, hands‑on Financial Controller with a strong startup background. The role will manage financial operations, ensure multi‑jurisdiction compliance, and drive financial transparency and discipline across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting in partnership with senior leadership.
• Develop and oversee cash‑management strategies.
• Manage sales‑tax compliance and operations for Australia, the UK, the USA and the EU.
• Identify and implement new finance processes, improve existing ones and promote a smart‑spending culture.
• Refine systems to categorise, track and analyse spend and revenue by function, business line and geography.
• Provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Perform limited operational tasks such as company registration (under 10% of time).

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role in a fast‑growing startup.
• Strong understanding of multi‑jurisdictional tax and compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Full‑time, permanent availability with a hybrid work arrangement.
