Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Financial Controller to join a fast‑growing, PE‑backed Australian services business. Reporting to the CFO, you will lead a small finance team and be responsible for strengthening financial governance, improving systems, and building scalable processes during a key expansion phase.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes and produce accurate financial statements and management reports.
• Maintain strong financial controls, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Manage the annual external audit and act as the primary contact for auditors.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory obligations.
• Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cash management and bank reconciliations.
• Develop, coach and lead a finance team of approximately six members.
• Establish efficient, scalable and well‑documented finance processes.
• Improve month‑end timelines, reduce audit adjustments and enhance automation.
• Upgrade finance systems, controls and data quality while supporting broader technology initiatives.
• Partner closely with the CFO, CEO and senior leadership to support business improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing end‑to‑end audit processes in a company with turnover under $100 million.
• Demonstrated ability to improve and streamline finance processes.
• Hands‑on approach with strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
