Financial Controller

About the role

upcover is looking for a hands‑on Financial Controller to own the overall financial health of the organisation. You will partner with the Executive Team to align financial strategies with business goals and ensure robust financial operations across the fast‑growing insurance tech platform.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with underwriting premium bordereaux reconciliations, broker commissions, insurer payments and claims payment reconciliations.
• Support FS70/71 audit processes for AFSL‑regulated entities.
• Develop and implement financial strategies that support business objectives.
• Provide leadership to the finance team and maintain internal controls and financial policies.
• Manage outsourced finance providers and oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and payroll.
• Prepare and publish timely monthly and annual financial statements.
• Implement month‑end closing procedures, balance‑sheet reconciliations and financial checklists.
• Coordinate the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
• Analyse financial performance and deliver insights to the executive team on key metrics.

Required profile

• Hands‑on finance professional with strong ownership and visibility across the business.
• Experience in financial leadership, preferably within the insurance or fintech sector.
• Proven ability to work closely with senior executives and support strategic decision‑making.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
