Financial Controller

About the role

IPH Limited, an ASX‑listed intellectual property services group, is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join its Sydney finance shared services team. Reporting to the CFO, you will act as a senior finance business partner, delivering high‑quality financial services and supporting strategic objectives across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee month‑end close, including journal preparation, balance‑sheet reconciliations and finance system integrations.
• Prepare consolidated monthly management reports with analytical commentary and commercial insights for senior stakeholders.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow reporting to support operational and strategic goals.
• Partner with the Managing Director and practice groups to provide financial and commercial analysis against budget and forecast.
• Manage statutory reporting, liaise with external auditors and ensure compliance with income tax, GST and FBT requirements.
• Develop and implement analytical reporting tools and business‑intelligence initiatives to improve profitability.
• Lead, develop and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Support finance transformation projects and ensure adherence to IPH Group policies, accounting standards and governance requirements.

Required profile

• CPA or CA qualified with a degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a similar finance controller or senior finance business partner role.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven ability to manage competing deadlines and deliver high‑quality client service.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with large ERP systems, preferably Inprotech or Microsoft D365 Finance.
• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
