Financial Controller

About the role

Kapitol is seeking a senior Financial Controller to lead its finance function within a fast‑paced, project‑based construction environment. Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the broader leadership team, the role combines hands‑on financial oversight with a strategic focus on systems, reporting and process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee month‑end, year‑end and consolidated financial reporting across multiple projects and entities.
• Maintain accuracy and discipline of the general ledger, balance sheet and project cost reporting.
• Manage audit processes and fulfil statutory reporting obligations.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial controls, governance and compliance frameworks.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management, including project cash‑flow and working capital.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to provide commercial insight into business and project performance.
• Develop and mentor the finance team, building capability and consistency.
• Support implementation of improved systems, automation and reporting tools.
• Uphold company policies, procedures and codes of conduct.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification.
• Proven experience in a senior finance role within a project‑driven organisation.
• Strong technical accounting capability and experience with reporting, controls and compliance.
• Commercially minded, comfortable operating in a changing, delivery‑focused environment.
• Ability to influence executive stakeholders and translate complex financial information into clear insight.
