Financial Controller

About the role

Flight Options is looking for a Finance Leader to oversee all financial operations of its diversified aviation business. This full‑time position reports directly to the Managing Director and will play a key role in supporting the company’s growth and strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow analysis.
• Prepare monthly management reports and monitor profitability across all revenue streams.
• Manage bi‑monthly payroll processing and supervise accounts payable and receivable, including inter‑company recharges.
• Liaise with external accountants, banks, insurance brokers, lessors, lessees, customers and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations such as FBT, BAS, PAYG, superannuation and payroll tax.
• Continuously evaluate and improve financial systems, processes and internal controls.
• Provide full‑cycle HR services: recruitment, contracts, onboarding, performance reviews, conflict resolution and terminations.
• Manage compliance and risk, including contract negotiations, audit support, data security and insurance renewals.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification with at least 5 years of experience in a similar finance leadership role.
• Proven experience in finance and staff management, preferably within the aviation sector.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 products.
