Financial Controller – Finance Operations & Strategy

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead the financial operations of Good Directions, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial management that supports organisational sustainability and participant outcomes. This hands‑on position balances day‑to‑day finance tasks with strategic contribution, automation initiatives and stakeholder collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain daily financial operations including Xero bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations and invoicing.
• Process fortnightly payroll, ensure compliance with SCHADS Award and HUB GD payroll requirements.
• Reconcile NDIS receipts and claims, manage advances recovery and support revenue integrity.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline routine finance tasks.
• Provide financial insights and advisory support to the COO and leadership team for strategic planning and governance.
• Collaborate with operations, participants and external stakeholders to align finance with the Good Directions Strategic Plan 2025‑30.

Required profile

• Strong background in operational finance with experience in the disability or NDIS sector.
• Hands‑on approach with proven ability to manage complex financial processes.
• Commitment to participant empowerment and continuous organisational improvement.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and advisory roles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Payroll processing and compliance knowledge.
