Financial Control Manager

About the role

The Financial Control Manager is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, strong governance and effective internal controls across multiple legal entities in Australia, New Zealand and PNG. This senior position provides strategic financial advice to senior leaders, oversees treasury activities and drives continuous improvement in finance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Finance and Treasury teams, fostering accountability and collaboration.
• Ensure accurate, timely monthly, annual and statutory financial reporting across the region.
• Oversee accounting processes, governance frameworks and internal controls to meet Sandvik policies and Australian standards.
• Manage treasury functions including foreign‑exchange risk, banking relationships and fraud prevention.
• Prepare statutory financial and sustainability reports in line with relevant standards.
• Coordinate external and internal audits, hard‑close processes and early‑warning reporting.
• Provide specialist advice on revenue recognition, impairment testing and emerging sustainability reporting requirements.
• Support integration of newly acquired businesses and contribute to ERP implementation initiatives.
• Collaborate with business leaders to deliver financial insights for strategic decision‑making.
• Drive process improvement, risk mitigation and governance excellence.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Professional membership such as CPA or CA.
• Significant senior finance leadership or financial control experience.
• Proven track record managing statutory reporting, treasury, audit and corporate governance.
• Experience leading and developing teams in large, complex organisations.
• Ability to advise executive leadership and Boards on financial and commercial matters.
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and internal control environments.
• Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills with high proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systems.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and influencing capabilities.
