Financial Accountant (Part-Time, Hybrid)

About the role

Merri-bek City Council is offering a part-time permanent Financial Accountant position (0.8 FTE, based on 38 hours per week) in Coburg, with hybrid working. The role suits an experienced accountant who enjoys contact with the community and works with a dynamic team to help manage the Council's financial resources. The advertised salary is $102k-$111k plus superannuation.

Required profile

• CPA/CA qualification and professional membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia
• Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and their application in local government
• Experience in a high-activity public contact role with good interpersonal, email and written communication skills
• Demonstrated administrative experience, especially writing clear reports and managing adopted policies and procedures

Required skills

• Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Understanding of financial systems such as TechOne, Microsoft NAV and Magiq
• Ability to develop and implement financial policies and regulations, and to interpret policies, procedures and compliance requirements
• Strong administrative and organisational skills with attention to detail
