Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant joins Daly Waters’ Finance team in Brisbane, supporting the company’s upstream oil and gas operations across 13 legal entities. Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, the role owns day‑to‑day accounting functions including month‑end close, accounts payable and bank reconciliations, and will grow with the business through to FID and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post month‑end journals, accruals, depreciation and inter‑company eliminations for all entities.
• Process supplier invoices, perform three‑way matching and run weekly/fortnightly payments.
• Reconcile all bank accounts daily, maintain cash position summaries and resolve unreconciled items before close.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register, code capital and operating expenditures to the correct AFE and prepare variance analysis.
• Support JV accounting by maintaining sub‑ledger entries, preparing billing schedules and ensuring audit‑ready documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• CA ANZ or CPA qualified, or in the final stages of qualification.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience with ownership of month‑end close, AP and bank reconciliations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with an ERP system (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, MYOB, Xero).
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables.
