Financial Accountant

About the role

GemLife is seeking a detail‑oriented Financial Accountant to join its Head Office Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will own month‑end reporting, ensure accurate financial statements, and support the business with insightful analysis while maintaining statutory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Own the month‑end reporting process, including journals, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Prepare Special Purpose and General Purpose Financial Statements.
• Ensure compliance with GST, PAYG, FBT, Payroll Tax and other statutory reporting requirements.
• Perform monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Manage the Fixed Asset Register and depreciation schedules.
• Assist with tax compliance and support external audits.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver accurate reporting and commercial insights.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, processes and controls.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification.
• Ideally trained within a Big 4 or mid‑tier accounting firm.
• At least two years post‑qualification experience as a Financial Accountant.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting experience.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Technology One.
• Strong knowledge of FBT compliance.
