Finance Manager – Luxury Hotel

About the role

The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Hobart, is seeking a detail‑oriented Finance Manager to support its financial operations. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you will ensure accurate records, compliance, and timely reporting within a luxury hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hotel financial operations, ensuring compliance with Marriott policies, accounting standards, and statutory requirements.
• Prepare month‑end reports, journals, reconciliations, and balance‑sheet reviews.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable, payroll compliance, fixed assets, cash‑flow forecasting, and working‑capital controls.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and analysis to meet performance targets.
• Oversee GST, payroll tax, FBT, withholding tax, and support audit processes.
• Partner with operational leaders to provide commercial insights, cost‑saving opportunities, and process efficiencies.
• Maintain strong financial controls, review stocktakes, cost of sales reporting, and ensure asset protection.
• Mentor Finance team members and act as key finance contact in the Assistant Director’s absence.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or currently studying.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, organisational, and time‑management abilities.
• Full Australian working rights.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with hotel accounting systems.
• Familiarity with PeopleSoft systems (highly regarded).
