Field Trainer – FIFO (8:6) – Perth

About the role

Boart Longyear is seeking a Field Trainer to deliver on‑site and classroom training for its surface drilling operations. The role is based on a FIFO 8‑day on, 6‑day off roster from Perth and supports crews across the East Coast of Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver training and assessment aligned with nationally recognised qualifications, site and client requirements.
• Facilitate practical on‑site sessions and classroom delivery as needed.
• Conduct competency assessments and maintain accurate training records.
• Develop and update training materials and resources.
• Provide coaching and support to trainees and operational crews, from offsiders to competent drillers.
• Ensure compliance with WHS, company policies and regulatory standards.
• Liaise with supervisors and stakeholders to identify training needs.
• Participate in continuous improvement of training programs.
• Occasionally travel to support operations across the East Coast.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in drilling operations or as a drill trainer.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40122) – essential.
• Strong understanding of competency‑based training and assessment principles.
• Experience in mining, civil or resources environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work autonomously in remote or site‑based environments.
• Desirable: current industry tickets (Working at Heights, Confined Space, First Aid), experience with LMS, experience in RTO or compliance‑driven training, High Risk Work Licence.
