Field Maintenance Technician – CTC-LIS

About the role

The Field Maintenance Technician supports the deployment, operation and upkeep of CTC‑LIS equipment for Cubic Defense. Working primarily from Townsville, you will travel to Australian Army and non‑defence training areas to ensure telecommunications and power systems remain operational during exercises.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, deploy and maintain CTC‑LIS relay stations, including UHF, microwave and LTE equipment.
• Diagnose and repair telecommunications hardware and perform routine servicing of diesel‑powered generators.
• Conduct pre‑deployment readiness checks and ongoing inspections of telemetry and mechanical equipment.
• Provide technical advice during instrumentation function checks and act as deputy to the 2IC Field Services when required.
• Maintain compliance with Cubic’s quality, health & safety, security and HR procedures.

Required profile

• Experience installing and maintaining communications systems.
• Solid understanding of electronics and electrical principles.
• Proven fault‑finding ability and capacity to analyse maintenance issues.
• Ability to work both in the field and workshop environments, often away from base.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
