Experienced Overnight Disability Support Worker

About the role

SCILS Sunshine Coast, a not-for-profit organisation, is seeking experienced and compassionate Disability Support Workers to provide active overnight and inactive sleepover support in its Supported Independent Living homes. Participants have complex and high-intensity needs, and the role offers a chance to build trusted relationships and help people feel safe and independent in their own homes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide responsive, person-centred support to participants with complex needs and behaviours of concern
• Work active overnight shifts staying awake and available, or inactive sleepover shifts staying onsite and responding when needed
• Implement individual support plans and Positive Behaviour Support strategies
• Assist with personal care, medication and established evening or morning routines
• Monitor participant wellbeing and respond to changing needs
• Maintain accurate documentation, shift notes and professional handovers
• Create a calm, respectful and reassuring home environment

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting people with complex disability support needs
• Experience responding to behaviours of concern with confidence and professionalism
• Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support and person-centred practice
• Ability to stay calm, observant and responsive throughout overnight shifts
• Reliability and availability to work a set rotating overnight roster
• Commitment to participant dignity, choice, safety and independence
• Relevant qualifications, current sector clearances and experience in complex support environments
