Executive Director

About the role

We are seeking an Executive Director to lead our national research practice, bringing together top‑tier researchers, methodologists and policy experts. The role sits within an international consultancy focused on emerging technology and public affairs, operating from multiple Australian offices.

Key responsibilities

• Set and execute the growth agenda, turning opportunities into long‑term client partnerships.
• Own commercial performance of the portfolio, from scoping and pricing to delivery, with full P&L accountability.
• Shape methodological direction and champion innovative, internationally‑aligned approaches.
• Cultivate senior relationships across corporate, public‑sector and not‑for‑profit clients as a trusted strategic adviser.
• Lead end‑to‑end business development, including prospect identification, proposal creation, pitching and negotiation.
• Develop the team by setting clear goals, providing candid feedback and creating progression pathways.

Required profile

• Senior research professional with proven P&L experience and a career at the convergence of evidence and influence.
• Deep understanding of how to design research programmes that give leaders clear, actionable insight.
• Familiarity with Australia’s corporate, government and public‑affairs landscape and reputation dynamics.

Required skills

• Extensive leadership experience in a consultancy, agency or advisory setting, with a track record of winning and retaining major client accounts.
• Strong command of research design across bespoke and continuous measurement methodologies.
• Ability to communicate authoritatively with senior stakeholders, including board presentations and procurement negotiations.
• Commercial acumen and confidence in holding P&L conversations.
