Event Labourer - Major Sporting Event

About the role

HOBAN Recruitment is recruiting reliable Event Labourers for a major sporting event in Melbourne CBD, running from November 2026 to March 2027. You will work behind the scenes, supporting event build, site preparation, bump-in, live operations and bump-out, alongside event staff, contractors, forklift operators and other labourers. The project has four stages: setup and bump-in (Nov-Dec 2026), live event operations (Jan 2027), and bump-out and pack-down (Feb-Mar 2027).

Key responsibilities

• General labouring and manual handling across the event site
• Assist with bump-in, site setup and pack-down
• Move equipment, materials, furniture, signage and other event infrastructure
• Support contractors and onsite teams with general tasks
• Maintain clean, organised and safe work areas
• Assist during live event operations where required
• Follow instructions from supervisors and onsite coordinators and comply with workplace health and safety requirements

Required profile

• Reliable, punctual and able to complete rostered shifts
• Physically fit, able to perform manual labour, stand and walk for long periods and handle materials repeatedly
• Comfortable working outdoors on a large site
• Able to follow instructions and work well in a team
• Flexible and safety-conscious
• Available across the build, bump-in and bump-out periods
• Valid White Card (mandatory); candidates must provide their own PPE, including steel-cap boots and a hi-vis vest
• Previous labouring, events, warehousing, construction or logistics experience is desirable but not essential
