Enrolled Nurse – Rural Hospital (Smithton, Tasmania)

About the role

The Smithton District Hospital is seeking Enrolled Nurses to join its small, sub‑acute public facility in Smithton, Tasmania. Working in a rural environment, you will provide direct patient care across inpatient, outpatient and emergency services, supporting a diverse caseload that includes general medicine, post‑acute, palliative and end‑of‑life care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver frontline nursing care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Manage patient care in the 12‑bed sub‑acute unit, the Emergency First Response ward and outpatient clinics.
• Build and maintain rapport with patients and families to promote engagement and optimal outcomes.
• Collaborate with General Practitioners, registered nurses, clinical educators and senior staff.

Required profile

• Current enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse in Australia.
• Willingness to work in a small, rotating shift roster (up to 76 hours per fortnight).
• Ability to work autonomously in a rural setting with limited public transport; a driver’s licence is an advantage.

Required skills

• Competence in standard nursing procedures and patient monitoring.
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and patients.
