Enrolled Nurse - General Practice

About the role

A busy medical practice in Cairns, working alongside 12 GPs, specialists and allied health professionals, is seeking an Enrolled Nurse. The role is varied and hands-on, with opportunities to gain experience across general practice and procedural medicine. The nursing team includes AINs, ENs and RNs, and nurses can work independently and build their skills.

Key responsibilities

• Chronic disease management, including care plans, health assessments and the Diabetes Cycle of Care
• ECGs and spirometry
• Assisting doctors with minor surgical procedures, skin excisions, vasectomies and vaccinations and immunisations
• Wound care and dressings, UV skin treatments and LED therapy
• Driving and mining medicals
• Daily coordination of the treatment room, stock control and medical equipment maintenance
• Implementing infection control in line with Accreditation Standards

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse
• Experience in general practice is desirable, but the employer is willing to support the right person
• Positive, friendly, team-focused attitude and ability to work independently and in a team
• Excellent communication and patient-care skills, willingness to learn and enjoy working in a close-knit team
