About the role

Boonah Health Service, part of West Moreton Health, is a 20-bed sub-acute care facility offering inpatient and ambulatory care to medical, sub-acute post-surgical, palliative, rehabilitation and minor paediatric cases, with a 24-hour emergency service and an allied health team. It is located about 45 minutes from Ipswich. The Enrolled Nurse Advanced Skill (ENAS) works under the indirect supervision of a registered nurse or registered midwife, assisting with the care of consumers as delegated.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the care of consumers as delegated by the registered nurse or registered midwife.
• Seek assistance and support in decision making from a registered nurse and demonstrate competence according to registration requirements, NMBA standards of practice, codes, education and the context of care.
• Integrate clinical evidence-based knowledge, skills and experience with theory in practice.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, patients, families and other agencies in collaboration with the supervising nurse or midwife.

Required profile

• Vaccinated against, and remaining vaccinated against, vaccine-preventable diseases as set out in the Health Employment Directive.
• Proof of qualification and current AHPRA registration, with certified copies submitted before clinical duties begin.
• Competent clinical evidence-based knowledge and skills, and respect for the diverse needs of patients, families and carers.
• Sound knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, including incident reporting and quality improvement.
