Engineering Lead – KYC (Relocation to Singapore)

About the role

Airwallex is seeking an Engineering Lead to drive the direction of its KYC systems, making user onboarding safer, faster and more efficient at scale. The role is based in Singapore and involves close collaboration with product, operations, compliance and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the engineering strategy for KYC automation and workflow systems, reducing manual effort for internal teams.
• Develop AI‑driven solutions to assess user risk and prevent fraudulent activity.
• Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver robust technical solutions.
• Raise standards for architecture, reliability, performance and mentor engineers on the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong ability to translate complex business processes into technical solutions.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, with experience collaborating across teams.

Required skills

• Backend or frontend development using Kotlin, Java, React or TypeScript.
• Hands‑on experience building scalable automation or workflow systems.
• Experience with cloud environments and tools such as AWS, GCP, Kubernetes or CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with AI/ML applications for risk detection and automation.
