About the role
Powerline is seeking an Energy Market Analyst to join its Melbourne team. The analyst will use deep knowledge of the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM) to help customers extract maximum value from renewable and battery storage assets while influencing product development.
Key responsibilities
- Work directly with traders, asset operators and developers to analyze market outcomes, evaluate trading strategies and deliver actionable recommendations.
- Lead customer implementations, provide technical support, and act as the primary point of contact throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with engineering to translate market insights into product enhancements, including dashboards, visualisations and optimisation algorithms.
- Monitor wholesale electricity market dynamics, identify emerging opportunities and communicate insights to customers.
Required profile
- Hands‑on experience in the NEM, preferably in spot analysis, trading, asset optimisation or control‑room operations.
- Strong understanding of power market fundamentals such as dispatch dynamics, bidding strategies and revenue drivers.
- Proven ability to analyse large energy datasets and convey complex insights to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Required skills
- SQL for data extraction and analysis.
- Python (or similar scripting language) for data manipulation and modelling.
