Emergency Medicine Staff Specialist (Regional Centre)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Staff Specialist to join a vibrant regional centre in tropical North Queensland, serving a population of over 180,000. The role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive multidisciplinary team with a strong focus on teaching and clinical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality emergency care to adult and paediatric patients in an accredited Paediatric Emergency Department.
• Participate in and lead ultrasound examinations and simulation training sessions.
• Collaborate with senior emergency physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and trainees to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Contribute to teaching activities, mentorship of junior staff and SSP trainees.
• Engage in continuous quality improvement, research, and potential expansion into geriatrics or toxicology.

Required profile

• Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or equivalent qualification.
• Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist Registration.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to patient‑centred care.
• Experience working in a busy emergency department, preferably with paediatric exposure.

Required skills

• Proficiency in point‑of‑care ultrasound.
