Education Support Trainee (Sport & Recreation)

About the role

Westvic Staffing Solutions, in partnership with Good Shepherd College, is offering a full-time Education Support (sport and recreation) traineeship starting in 2027. The successful applicant works across both the senior and junior campuses of the school and completes a Certificate III in School Based Education Support with South West Tafe. The role supports teaching staff in running classroom and recreational programs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with setting up and running major sporting programs and the student activities program
• Undertake sports administration and liaise with staff and students on sports organisation and implementation
• Maintain sports equipment and assist water safety and lifeguard personnel during outdoor education and events
• Monitor children during classroom and play activities and supervise groups alongside teachers
• Prepare materials and classrooms, assist teachers and answer general enquiries from children, parents and staff
• Attend meetings, training, outings and excursions, which may include overnight school camps; undertake yard duty and general tasks as directed by the supervisor

Required profile

• A year 12 qualification
• Genuine interest in working in a school environment and ability to work positively with children
• Friendly personality, strong communication skills, punctuality and reliability
• Commitment to completing the Certificate III in School Based Education Support
• Preferred: Victorian driver's licence, Working with Children's Check, and food handling training or willingness to complete it
