Early Career Consultant - Emissions and Climate

About the role

ERM Australia is recruiting early career consultants for its Melbourne office to join the Corporate Sustainability & Climate Change teams. You will support Australian and global clients on climate strategy and emissions accounting, helping organisations reduce GHG emissions, manage climate risks and move toward a circular economy. The firm works with clients in renewable energy, resources, chemicals, power and technology.

Key responsibilities

• Support clients on climate strategy, including climate risk assessment, scenario analysis and resilience strategy
• Help clients derive meaning from complex datasets, including carbon emissions, to support compliance and strategic priorities
• Work on large, complex, long-term projects with clients in emerging and established markets

Required profile

• Tertiary education in climate or environmental science
• Interest in Australian climate policy and regulations, shown through coursework, internships, research or applied projects
• Ability to multi-task with strict deadlines, work independently with minimal supervision and communicate clearly
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety and ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Desirable: data visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Python or R, and GIS mapping tools
• Desirable: knowledge of climate risk assessments and scenario analysis, and familiarity with emissions accounting and modelling (e.g. NGER or Greenhouse Gas Protocol)
