Driving Instructor

About the role

NRMA is hiring a full-time, permanent driving instructor in Wollongong to join its driving school, which won the 2026 Most Loved Driving School award. You will teach independent driving using the NRMA Driver Training Curriculum, develop skills to deliver the NSW Safer Drivers Course, become an Older Driver Assessor and act as an authorised trainer for the Corporate Driver Training program.

Key responsibilities

• Teach learner drivers tailored lessons based on the NRMA Driver Training Curriculum
• Develop skills to deliver the NSW Safer Drivers Course, become an Older Driver Assessor and train corporate drivers
• Work a roster Monday to Sunday, 7am to 8pm, with shifts based on customer demand, focused on weekends and before and after school hours; rosters are provided in advance

Required profile

• Valid NSW Driving Instructor Licence
• Valid NSW C class Driver's Licence
• Valid Working with Children's Check (WWCC)
• Willingness to obtain the TfNSW Safer Drivers Course (minimum module 2) accreditation
• Willingness to obtain Older Driver Assessment qualifications when eligible (requires 3 years of driving instructor experience)

• Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, with empathy and patience
• Ability to sell NRMA products through a needs-based approach
• Excellent communication across different demographics and levels of driving confidence
• Strong understanding of and adherence to NSW road rules
• Effective diary management and flexibility to adapt to different learning styles
