Driller Assistant - Surface Coring

About the role

Boart Longyear is expanding its Surface drilling operations and seeks motivated individuals to join the team as Driller Assistants. You will work on a 2:1 FIFO roster based out of Perth, supporting safe and efficient drill rig operations.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Driller or Drilling Supervisor with a variety of labour tasks.
• Conduct daily pre‑start equipment and safety checks.
• Assist in mixing drilling muds, fluids, chemicals and cement.
• Help load and unload heavy vehicles and set up the rig.
• Maintain a clean, hazard‑free work environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a physically demanding role; offsiders experience is a plus.
• HR‑B or HR Unrestricted Driver’s Licence (or working towards) – essential.
• Current C Class Manual Driver’s Licence – essential.
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment medical, drug and alcohol test, and functional assessment.
• National Police Clearance within 6 months (or ability to obtain).
• Residency in Western Australia – essential.

Required skills

• Heavy vehicle loading/unloading.
• Mixing drilling fluids and cement.
• Conducting equipment safety checks.
